I was going to show some students a painting demo so I planned to do a really simple drawing for it. What started as just a head sketch (I did the prelim sketch on a post it note) became almost a full illustration. Oops! Well I don't have time to paint it anytime soon, definately not during classtime. So then I did this:
Much simpler and I can definately finish it in at most a couple hours...and I like it in all it's simplicity. :) Oh yeah, I'm going to paint them in acrylics.

I can't wait to see this PAINTINGS!!!!
I like the line work on the first one - very angular... "blocky" lines without giving a "block" feel to the drawing. Almost a mathematical feel to a drawing of a "nature chick" which is a nice parody...
Thanks for stopping by my blog and your nice comments. The top drawing is fantastic. Love the style and design. Nice unique approach. Would love to see it colored.
Mike...'s mum:
Yeah the bottom sketch is based on simple shapes
Kevin Barber: Thanks! I don't know when I'll be able to paint the top one cause it'll take a lot more time. I might try something new like oil glazes on it or just watercolor. I don't like to use acrylics unless I'm going for a flatter/simpler look.
great work man, you have alot of life in there!
